Authors and books I love

I read almost as much as I write

Which is a lot. I like to read all different kinds of books: literary fiction, commercial fiction, speculative, historical, paranormal, romance, thriller, mystery, chick-lit, even genres within the YA (Young Adult), NA (New Adult), and Adult categories. And like any loyal book lover, I’m brainwashing my kids to love books too, so we read a lot of children’s books.

Here’s a glimpse at my favourites, in no particular order. Each struck me in a unique way, some appealing to the reader in me, some the writer, but all great reads….

The Time Traveller’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger (my absolute fav!)

The Disappeared by Kim Echlin

The Book of Negroes by Lawrence Hill

Still Alice by Lisa Genova

Stinking Rich by Rob Brunet

19 Minutes by Jodi Picoult

The Painted Girls by Cathy Marie Buchanan

Harry Potter (all of them) by J.K. Rowling

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

The Moon Sisters by Therese Walsh

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen

The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold

Life of Pi by Yann Martel

The Taker by Alma Katsu

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

Fallen Beauty by Erika Robuck

Wool by Hugh Howey

On the same note, there are author websites I gravitate to, filled with golden nuggets of educational and inspirational tidbits, well worth a gander.  Here’s some of my go-to sites, in no particular order….
